This is a genuine Silver Piece of Eight - 2 reales, minted in Potosi, Brazil in 1749. These coins were minted at Spain's silver mines in the New World, then transported overland to ships which carried them to Cuba for reshipment to Spain in Treasure Galleons. Well, storms and pirates took their toll and some coins never reached the mother country. Also, the coins were used in Spanish territories on the mainland and in the Caribbean, and were in fact used as legal tender in the USA until 1857.

This is one of those coins.

We have created for it a pendant of 14 Karat Gold with a compass rose design and fleur de lis elements. The design is continued in a simpler fashion on the back making the pendant reversible.

Pendant is approx. 32mm, just over 1 3/8inches side to side,
and 44mm, just under 1 3/4 inches top to bottom.
