Pirates!
In Depoe Bay it is said that Pirates once operated in the many hidden lagoons. Within a stone's throw of Things Rich & Strange is a body of water that's called Pirates' Cove on any map you'd care to consult. It's rumored that the famous Pirate Sir Francis Drake may have wintered here and overhauled his ship in nearby Whale Cove, and old Spanish pieces of eight and trade goods are sometimes found on Oregon Coast Beaches. Each year the town hosts an annual Pirate Treasure Hunt.
